Treatments
In-office procedures will directly target the source of inflammation and provide long lasting relief from dry eye.
Lipiflow
Lipiflow is an automated in-office procedure that uses thermal heat pulsation to liquefy blocked meibomian glands and a light massaging action to remove those blockages. This allows us to treat Dry Eye Syndrome by directly going to the source – the meibomian glands. These glands are responsible for producing the oil that coats tears and prevents evaporation; dysfunction of the meibomian glands is responsible for 86% of dry eye cases.
Intense Pulsed Light (IPL)
Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) is a non-invasive and non-laser treatment for rosacea, dry eye, and Meibomian Gland Dysfunction that uses pulses of light to reduce inflammation, soften gland secretions, and rejuvenate the meibomian glands. IPL treatments help with dry eye, ocular rosacea and blepharitis by targeting the root of inflammation.
Punctual Plugs
Punctal plugs are made of medical grade silicone or of biodegradable material. Punctal plugs alleviate dry eye syndrome by preventing the tears from draining too quickly from the ocular surface. This procedure is done in office and is typically covered by your medical insurance!
Ocular Prescription Therapies
Unlike artificial tears that rewet the surface of your eye, prescription eye drops help with tear production. Our dry eye doctor will determine if you are a good candidate for prescription eye drops.
Amniotic Membranes
Amniotic membranes have incredible healing properties to treat damage, scarring, and infection caused by chronic dry eye. Membranes are made from placental tissue that is collected after a safe and healthy cesarean. Amniotic membranes placed on the eye provide a safe way to reduce scar formation and promote healing.
iLux
iLux is an advanced and cutting-edge eye care technology designed to treat Meibomian Gland Dysfunction (MGD) and alleviate the associated symptoms like dry eye. This non-invasive procedure utilizes a handheld device that applies gentle and precise heat to the eyelids, targeting the blocked meibomian glands. Simultaneously, the device offers gentle pressure to express and clear the glands, promoting better oil flow and tear film stability. iLux treatment is comfortable and usually takes a short amount of time, allowing patients to resume their daily activities promptly. By restoring proper gland function and improving tear quality, iLux offers long-lasting relief from dry eye symptoms and significantly enhances ocular comfort and vision clarity.
BlephEx
BlephEx is a procedure specifically designed to combat Blepharitis, a common eyelid condition causing inflammation and discomfort. Using a specialized handheld device with a gentle, spinning sponge tip, BlephEx meticulously cleanses the eyelids and eyelash bases, removing accumulated debris, bacteria, and excess oil. The procedure is non-invasive and typically takes only a few minutes per eye. By promoting better eye hygiene and alleviating symptoms like itching and redness, BlephEx aims to provide patients with clearer vision and improved overall eye health.
